We are talking bathroom extractor fan external grills here

Most modern houses now have grills in the soffit outside usually nearby a bathroom or toilet window and because modern houses have had an increase in toilets installed and with even the number 2 and number 3 bedrooms having an en-suite, these vents are popping up more and more.

WE ALWAYS SUPPLY AND FIT NEW VENTS as part of your installation even although some of our customers ask for them to be cleaned but do you really want an old vent which has turned cream-yellow fixed to your new brilliant white soffit? We even paint them for you to match the soffit  colour – Anthracite Grey is a good example here.

BUT HOW MANY ARE CONNECTED UP CORRECTLY ?
THE ANSWER IS NOT MANY as it seems that again on mainly modern houses, it is too much trouble for the builder or tradesman after cutting a hole and screwing the vent in place, either end, cannot be ‘arsed’ to connect up the end of the tube on to the inside of the soffit grill. If you are lucky the ducting will be fairly near but nevertheless if it’s not connected up to the soffit grill then, like millions of others, it’s been pumping moist warm air into the loft area for years, adding mould to all your treasured possessions that you don’t want to throw away because you might need them again later this week, when in reality you haven’t used them for 20+ years! Worst of all, if you are lucky enough to have children and they are girls and you have 2 or 3 of them, then the bathroom fans in your home will be severely working overtime 7 days a week!

So on removing the fascia board, most vents and ducting look like they have fallen out with each other and Essex Fascias run a counselling service, with a 100% track record, always getting them back together again!

BUT TODAY WE SAW SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND HERE IT IS…

I told our customer I would fit her new vent underneath in the Soffit even though the old one had been unusually fitted onto the front of the Fascia board.

She remembers paying £120.00 twenty years ago to have new ducting fitted and grill, thinks the guy is still alive and is going after him for her money back.

If you cannot see what all the fuss is about, then I’d better point out that no hole has been cut behind the grill.

Our counselling service came to the rescue once again.
