What is ROOFLINE?
What are Fascias, Soffits, Bargeboards, and Guttering —collectively known as Roofline ?
Fascias and soffits are key architectural features located around the eaves of a building.
Soffits sit underneath the fascias and are usually made from panels or boards. They cover the underside of the roof overhang and often include ventilation to allow air to circulate in the roof space. This ventilation helps reduce moisture build-up and prevents associated structural damage.
Together, Fascias Bargeboards & Soffit’s protect the roof and the building as a whole, while also enhancing its appearance. In the UK, they were traditionally made from timber but are now commonly replaced with PVC-u.
And finally, most people reading this know what Gutters do
You may be wondering: What exactly is PVC-u?
PVC-u stands for Polyvinyl Chloride – Unplasticised. It’s a rigid form of PVC commonly used in construction for items like window frames, pipes, and roofline products. Unlike standard PVC, which contains plasticizers to make it flexible, PVC-u is completely rigid, offering greater durability, weather resistance, and impact strength.
A recent trend has appeared over the last few years, in which most roofline businesses, do not show their customers the fascia board they fit or indeed any of the products they install. This then allows them freedom to fit the cheapest Fascia & Soffit boards, with the absolute minimum, missing out certain components that contribute to a better install.
